A little bit about me (Kreative Kids Kreator)
Hi there, I am Belinda Mayer. I am an experienced educator, musician and artist. I studied and excelled in an Advanced Diploma of Music and Musical Theatre Certificate IV which I loved. I decided I wanted to take my knowledge further and went on to study a Bachelor of Education in Primary Education. I have been teaching music, drama and performance skills for 19 years. I have been entertaining all around New South Wales as a musician and actress for 23 years and teaching in Public Schools for 14 years. I have written and recorded songs, albums and film clips (which are a LOT of fun!). There have been many plays I have directed, assistant directed and performed in, which make so much sense as to why I was a drama queen when I was younger (my poor mum) and probably still a drama queen today (my poor husband).
I have a lovely husband named James, and two beautiful children; Evalyn who is a super energetic almost 6 year old, and Beatrix, a very loud and expressive 4 year old. As a mum, I understand how important it is to have a great start to life, and how essential early intervention is. That is why I created "Kreative Kids"!
I aim to bring out the best in all the children I work with to help them flourish.
When I was growing up, neurodiversity’s were rarely talked about or acknowledged amongst a community. I struggled so much with learning and understanding the world around me. I couldn't sit still or focus on anything that was presented to me. It wasn’t until I picked up a guitar at the age of 16 that I realised there was something in life that I was good at. I enjoyed it so much I became focused on perfecting everything I was learning. It was the first time in my life I felt confident about myself and it was the start of achieving more than I believed was possible. I felt like the real me was beginning to appear, and I liked who I was when I played music.
When I finished Year 12, I worked for a year in hospitality and decided I wanted more creative arts in my life. I applied for a Musical Theatre course, and it brought out my emotionally creative side. After I finished that course, I began teaching music, drama and performance skills at music and dance schools. Alongside teaching, I studied an Advanced Diploma of Music. This was where I was musically pushed to my limits with world wide leading professionals in the entertainment industry. Unfortunately, not long after I finished my music course I had an accident where I was told I may never be able to move my little finger on my left hand again (as a guitarist that is bad news) and the road to recovery would be long, if possible at all. I knew I needed to further my knowledge in a different area. I loved teaching music and drama, so I enrolled in a Bachelor of Education, where my neurodivergent brain found it incredibly challenging but my determination outweighed my struggles and I successfully completed the degree. Over the next 14 years I taught hundreds of wonderful and unique children and I absolutely loved my job. My husband and I got married and we had 2 gorgeous children. As my kids began exploring the world and their brains started developing, I embarked on the early intervention process through Northcott and NDIS. I quickly realised the desperate need the Mid North Coast has for providers to help children understand the world around them… particularly in a way that is creatively expressive. That is when I decided to begin my journey to help other little people with "Kreative Kids". I am so excited to help your child/ children express their thoughts, emotions and inner self to help them flourish and become the best versions of themselves.
Please be advised, I am not a therapist. I am an early childhood professional. I am an NDIS provider working under "Other Professional" due to my degrees, skills, experience and full registration with New South Wales education professional body NESA. I am fully insured.
